The end of the Minnesota Campaign, the death of Macomb and the resulting surrender of the United States 5th and 2nd Infantry Regiments caused a severe ripple effect that did much to alter the course of events of American politics underway in Washington. The "Northwoods Affair" as it had once been named had now taken an entirely new moniker both in name and in severity, and had been appropriately labeled the "Northwoods Revolution" by the American press.
